Every year before Dove Day we try to get together for a little bit of food and shotgun practice during an August weekend. Larry told me that Keith has done some improvements on the area where we shoot skeet and of course he has the gun shooting lane, shown above, where we shoot pistols and rifles. The exact date and time will be coming soon.

I want to pay a little tribute to the finest shot I have seen taken on a deer when Larry Bedinghaus shot a nice eight point buck off hand without any type of rest at 75 yards. It was in the mid-nineties and Larry still had excellent vision. He spotted the buck in an oat field while we were walking from one pasture to another around 9:00 in the morning. We thought the feeding time was over and we were just moving around when Larry came to a halt and whispered to me to freeze. We were both out in the open at the edge of the field and Larry slowly and carefully shouldered his gun and and made a clean, one-shot, kill on his deer.

Now Larry has a bit of vision impairment and he does not do as much hunting and shooting but I will always remember that fantastic shot and the taste of the venison sausage he shared with me when the deer was processed. We have had a lot of good times at Bluff Creek Farm and we have a few more to go. Thanks Larry for lots of great memories.
